Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) 12c Release - LogoOracle Data Integrator (ODI) 12c Release

Oracle has recently released a new and greatly improved version of Oracle Data Integrator (ODI). There are a ton of new features, product enhancements and architectural improvements (performance and scalability as a couple we love) to this new release.

You can get more details on this new version as well as access to the complete new features list, tutorials, demos, documentation and the software itself by visiting the Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) page at Oracle.com:

http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/data-integrator/overview/index.html

*** NOTE ***

Please be warned that the newest release of Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) 12c IS NOT YET SUPPORTED for use with the Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) System of products. The latest release of the Oracle Hyperion EPM System 11.1.2.3.x ships with ODI 11.1.1.7 integrated for Financial Data Management Enterprise Edition (FDMEE) purposes. For a stand alone version of ODI for use with the Oracle Hyperion EPM System, ODI 11.1.1.7 is still the latest version supported and certified for use by Oracle.

We suggest you contact Oracle Support and open an SR at http://support.oracle.com and request they add support for this newest releases ASAP. The more clients who request it, the more likely it will get addressed sooner rather than later.

ISSUE: When running a large query in Oracle Hyperion Smart View, the following error is returned after an extended period of time.  When this occurs, the user must close Microsoft Excel and then re-open and re-login to continue working.

ERROR MESSAGE DETAILS:

Oracle Hyperion Smart View for Office, Fusion Edition

Cannot connect to the provider.  Make sure it is running in the specified host/port.  Error (503).

OK

SCREEN SHOT:

smart-view-error-503

SOLUTION:  In the mod_wl_ohs.conf file add if missing or modify the parameters for the WLIOTimeoutSecs and WLSocketTimeoutSecs to be a value greater than the time needed for the query to complete.  You must restart the Oracle HTTP Server (OHS) and the WebLogic managed server for the Analytic Provider Services (APS) server for the new setting to take effect.

In our example the user was running a query in Smart View which took longer than 5 minutes to complete.  The settings were missing for the APS location handler and the Smart View query was unable to complete.

The mod_wl_ohs.conf file can be found on the WebLogic Managed server for your implementation of Analytic Provider Services (APS) at the following location:

*** NOTE *** Starting with EPM System 11.1.2.3 it is possible to use a “Shared Location” for your Oracle HTTP Server configuration.  If this is being utilized in your implementation you should check in that “Shared Location” for the mod_wl_ohs.conf file instead.

On a Microsoft Windows platform:

C:OracleMiddlewareuser_projectsepmsystem<#>httpConfigohsconfigOHSohs_component

On a LinuxUnix platform:

/<your install location>/Oracle/Middleware/user_projects/epmsystem<#>/httpConfig/ohs/config/OHS/ohs_component

  1. Shutdown the Provider Services (APS) server service or process.
  2. Backup the current mod_wl_ohs.conf file.
  3. Add/modify the parameters for the “WLIOTimeoutSecs” and “WLSocketTimeoutSecs” properties within the location section for APS:
    1. <Location Match ^/aps>
    2. SetHandler weblogic-handler
    3. WeblogicCluster <aps-server-name>:13080
    4. WLIOTimeoutSecs 1800
    5. WLSocketTimeoutSecs 1800
    6. </LocationMatch>
  4. Restart the Oracle HTTP Server and the WebLogic Managed server service or process for APS.

APPLICABLE VERSIONS: 11.1.1.x, 11.1.2.0, 11.1.2.1, 11.1.2.2, 11.1.2.3, 11.1.2.4

ISSUE: When running a query in Oracle Hyperion Smart View, the Essbase Excel-Addin, or any other Reporting and Analysis tools, the following error is returned after an extended period of time.  When this occurs, the user must close Microsoft Excel and then re-open and re-login to continue working.

ERROR MESSAGE DETAILS:

Oracle Hyperion Smart View for Office, Fusion Edition

Essbase Error (1024016): Request [<some-report-name>] from user [<some-user@provider-name>] was terminated since it exceeded the time limit.

OK

SCREEN SHOT:

essbase-error-1024016

SOLUTION: In the ESSBASE.CFG file remove or modify the parameter for the QRYGOVEXECTIME to be a value greater than the time needed for the query to complete.  You must restart the Essbase server for the new setting to take effect.  In our example the user has the setting currently at QRYGOVEXECTIME 45 (45 seconds) and the Smart View query was unable to complete in that requested in that amount of time.

*** Note*** This setting can be configured as an Essbase server wide setting or can be configured for individual applications.

The ESSBASE.CFG file can be found on the Essbase server:

On a Microsoft Windows platform:

C:OracleMiddlewareuser_projectsepmsystem<#>EssbaseServeressbaseserver1bin

On a LinuxUnix platform:

/<your install location>/Oracle/Middleware/user_projects/epmsystem<#>/EssbaseServer/essbaseserver1/bin

  1. Shutdown the Essbase server service or process.
  2. Backup the current ESSBASE.CFG file.
  3. Comment out or modify the following parameter:
    1. QRYGOVEXECTIME 180
  4. Restart the Essbase server service or process.

APPLICABLE VERSIONS: 9.3.x, 11.1.1.x, 11.1.2.0, 11.1.2.1, 11.1.2.2, 11.1.2.3

SOLUTION: In the ESSBASE.CFG file add or modify the parameter for the SSPROCROWLIMIT to be a value greater than the maximum rows being requested.  You must restart the Essbase server for the new setting to take effect.  In our example the user has the setting currently at 500,000 rows and the Smart View query was trying to return 502,615 rows.

The ESSBASE.CFG file can be found on the Essbase server:

On a Microsoft Windows platform:

C:OracleMiddlewareuser_projectsepmsystem<#>EssbaseServeressbaseserver1bin

On a LinuxUnix platform:
